Ventilation
Proper ventilation in infants requires correct airway positioning (neutral position) and appropriate ventilation volume.
The BRAYDEN (IM17020) provides real-time feedback to help learners perform high-quality ventilation.
- Ventilation Volume
- For an infant of a size comparable to the BRAYDEN (IM17020), the appropriate ventilation volume is 30–50 mL.
The manikin’s ventilation indicator provides visual feedback on the actual volume of air delivered and whether it is delivered with excessive force.

Proper Head and Airway Position
The BRAYDEN (IM17020) infant manikin is designed to allow learners to practice jaw thrust and chin lift techniques.
For effective ventilation in infants, it is essential to maintain the head in a neutral position to keep the airway open.
Excessive head tilt (overextension) or flexion (chin-down position) is inappropriate during infant ventilation.
The BRAYDEN (IM17020) features a relatively large occiput, causing the head to rest naturally in a flexed position, similar to that of a real infant. As a result, learners must adjust the head to the correct neutral position to open the airway.

The jaw mechanism is designed to replicate the natural movement of an infant’s jaw, enabling accurate jaw thrust techniques.
